a Few
Steps-
PHI BULANI at Chichen Itza

It was the funniest of things, after Chichen there's a stop at a beautiful cenote. We got off the bus, and these children came running up to Phi- trying to get him to buy something, a postcard or handerkerchief, well i heard him promise one little child that he would buy a postcard after visiting the cenote. That was enough they all dispersed- This was only supposed to be a 25 minute stop, [we kept them waiting another 20]. Well sure enough after the swim, and climbing out of the cenote- Twelve kids all came bustling about him, senor senor you promised you promised - he didn't hesitate- oh it was charming, he couldn't move any faster- i think he bought twelve postcards, handerchiefs, and a coconut to drink, which he shared with a few children in Vaillodilid
. I know it seems kind of corny- like i'm making a big deal- but not everyone behaves this way when they travel- they're guarded, they might even ignore the locals- i've actually seen that- so for me it sweetens my memory of that day, seeing PHI take the time to help those kids a little- buying their souvenirs- holding up the tour bus in the process- but nobody minded- when they saw why- it just made that experience all the sweeter for me, and the local children obviously.
It was great meeting you Phi
Adios,
The best to you and your familia.
